Music Machine 18

Music Machine 18 is based on an earlier piece of mine called [barcode] which used a barcode to generate all the melodic material.
To hear the original piece click here and for more details of the compositional process please read the excerpt from my phd thesis by clicking this link.
Music Machine 18 uses the chord sequence from this piece and the sequence is shown at the end of this document.

It has twelve options for performance:

Original chords - the chord sequence played continuously in its original order.

Original melody – the chord sequence in its original order with a computer generated melody, played continuously.

Original drums – the chord sequence in its original order with a computer generated melody and bass drum, played continuously.

One shot chords - all 25 of the original chords played once only in a random order.

One shot melody - all 25 of the original chords played once only in a random order with a computer generated melody.

One shot drums - all 25 of the original chords played once only in a random order with a computer generated melody and bass drum.

Random chords - all 25 of the original chords played in a random order.

Random melody - all 25 of the original chords played in a random order with a computer generated melody.

Random drums - all 25 of the original chords played in a random order with a computer generated melody and bass drum.

Build and loop - the chord sequence, followed by the sequence with melody followed by the sequence with melody and drums played continuously.

Random – this will play any of the 75 bars of the original work (chords only, chords with melody or chords with melody and bass drum)
and will run indefinitely until stopped by the user.

Build and loop random - the chord sequence in one shot mode, followed by the sequence with melody in one shot mode,
followed by the sequence with melody and drums played continuously in random mode.

In continuous mode the machine will run indefinitely until stopped by the user.
